Pick up your bike today and head to the incredible Henningsvær fishing village, also known as the “Venice of Lofoten” for a quiet introduction to Lofoten Island’s winding road. This will give you a good feel for the bike and provide a great opportunity for exploration. If you’re quick enough, you can also take an optional boat trip to the famous Troll fjord before returning to Svolvær for the night.
47.5 km and 530 m of elevation gain/loss
This day begins with a ride across the striking Gimsøybrua bridge, offering sweeping views of the sea and surrounding islands. From there, a quieter road leads to Hov, home to the renowned Lofoten Links golf course. Hov’s position far to the west provides a unique chance to witness the midnight sun. We highly recommend you to take some time and hike to the top of Hoven Hill (362 meters) for panoramic views of the day’s cycling route and even the distant island of Vesterålen.
41.5 km and 400 m of elevation gain/loss
Today, you’ll ride through relatively flat terrain through fjords and valleys, surrounded by jagged peaks that rise dramatically against the sky. This is the stage that allows you to discover hidden beaches and quiet coves, ensuring you uncover the true hidden gems of Lofoten. A coastal ride will bring you to Leknes, where you can relax after a long day.
50.5 km and 360 m of elevation gain/loss
The route to Uttakleiv features some of the most stunning scenery in Lofoten, leading to what is often described as the islands’ most photographed beach. With its dramatic combination of soft white sands, striking cliffs, and emerald waters, Uttakleiv Beach provides an unforgettable cycling experience and endless photo opportunities. It is the perfect ending spot of your Lofoten cycling holiday before you return to Leknes in the evening and prepare for departure.
29 km and 285 m of elevation gain/loss
It’s time to say goodbye to Lofoten’s beauty. If you wish to extend your stay, you can add an extra day to visit Reine, an iconic Lofoten village. Otherwise, you can conclude your journey with a domestic flight from Leknes to Bodø, followed by a connecting flight from Bodø to Oslo. This series of flights offers a seamless return to Norway’s capital, allowing for reflection on the adventure through the stunning landscapes of the Lofoten Islands.

Description
Once the heart of Viking seafaring and trading, the Lofoten Islands carry echoes of a storied past.
The Viking Age comes alive here, with archaeological finds and the carefully preserved Lofotr Viking Museum offering glimpses into how these ancient mariners lived and thrived in harmony with the sea.
But it’s the island’s dramatic natural beauty that truly catches the attention of travellers. From the midnight sun in summer to the long twilight of autumn, Lofoten’s unique position above the Arctic Circle creates extraordinary light phenomena that add an almost magical quality to the journey.
Lofoten’s roads are a cyclist’s dream, offering a mix of quiet coastal routes, gentle rolling hills, and exhilarating descents. Well-paved roads wind past pristine beaches, through quaint fishing villages, and along fjords that seem to stretch endlessly toward the horizon.
With minimal traffic on many stretches, cycling here feels peaceful and immersive, allowing you to fully absorb the dramatic scenery that unfolds around every bend.
We are committed to providing you a seamless and memorable experience. With booking comfortable accommodations, equipping you with a detailed digital guidebook and GPS routes, we make it easy to focus on the beauty of the islands!
